Ingo Maurer

Ingo Maurer

1932Born on the island of Reichenau on Lake Constance. Training as a typographer in Germany and Switzerland.
1954-58Studies graphic design in Munich.
1960Moves to the USA, where he works as a freelance designer in New York and San Francisco.
1963Returns to Europe.
1966Founded "Design M" in Munich. First lamp: Bulb. Several design awards.
2019Died in Munich, Germany

1985YaYaHo installation at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris
1986exhibition "Ingo Maurer Lumière aha SoSo" at the Institut Français d'Architecture in Paris.
1989exhibition at the Museum of Ethnography of the Peoples of the Soviet Union in Leningrad entitled: "Design ... ?? --- !! Lighting by Ingo Maurer and his team/commando".
1993exhibition "Licht licht" at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
1998exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York "Projects 66" with Fernando and Humberto Campana.
1999cooperation with Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake. Installation and special effects for the Issey Miyake fashion show at La Villette.
2002Collab's Design Excellence Award from the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
2005nomination for the honorary title of 'Royal Designer of Industry' by the Royal Society of Arts, London.
2010exhibition "Complete with Bulb - Light by Ingo Maurer" at the Bauhaus Archiv, Berlin.
2016participation in the touring exhibition "Handmade in Germany".
2016and 2017 Participation in the jury of LiO - OSRAM Light Art Award
