Poly hocker
The Poly stool was designed primarily for the cafeteria, where the cleaning staff could easily "fédé" the stool on the tables in order to be able to clean the floor. The four fastening screws below the seat were specially equipped with rubber nubs to prevent the table surface from slipping and being scratched. The already mentioned GFL saying “cleaning staff is a design factor” arose in relation to the Poly stool.
In 1978, GFL received a large order from the École Polytechnique rale de Lausanne (EPFL) for the furnishing of the cafeteria, cloakroom, lounges and the outside area. In addition to various other pieces of furniture, he designed the poly stool from a single piece of curved, cantilevered, chrome-plated or galvanized tubular steel frame with a seat made from a variety of materials of his choice. The seat was originally made of plywood, later higher-quality versions made of Plexiglas, perforated sheet metal, various solid woods (Doussié, Iroko, oak) or padded saddle leather were added.
The Poly also belonged to the AAREA furniture collection and was a sales success in the early 1980s.
